An Introduction to Lead Work at Kirkgate Training Day

Womersleys were delighted to run another training day in the sunshine at Leeds. Participants learnt the basics of Lead Work, including its history, codes, use and detailing on buildings.

Essential in the conservation of our historic buildings Lead forms a vital part in their restoration. The group of builders, architects, surveyors, DIYers and conservation officers build a section of stone slate roof with a code 5 lead valley and thinner lead soakers.

The group also had an introduction to lead being used on shallow inclines and jointing over roll tops. The training is being provided for Leeds City Council as part of their efforts to promote good conservation practice in the Kirkgate Conservation Area
