Flexiguard Breathable Protector for Porous Mineral Surfaces
Flexiguard
Breathable, water repellent and stain-resistant impregnator for coating porous silicate substrates, such as lime, stone, concrete, terracotta and clay.
Once applied, a protective layer less than 100-nm thick (80,000 times thinner than a human hair) bonds with the pores of the substrate to leave a smooth, anti-stain, non-discolouring surface layer.
Flexiguard preserves the existing surface quality making it highly water and grease repellent, resistant to ingrained soiling, mould and fungal growth
Flexiguard also guards against abrasion, frost damage, chemical attack, acid rainwater, alkaline run-off from construction materials, and fat, grease and oil products
Flexiguard prevents corrosion by salt and other marine conditions.
Applications: Sandstone, Precast concrete blocks, Terracotta, Brick, Clay, Slate, Granite, Marble, Stone floor, Roofing tiles
How it works:
Solvent-free, water-based and breathable Flexiguard is made up of silicon dioxide molecules. On application to the porous substrate, silicon dioxide molecules from the coating and the substrate bond together releasing the anti-bonding molecules. These molecules migrate to the surface creating an ultra-smooth, indistinguishable and UV stable protective outer layer.
Treatment Methods:
Applied by sprayer, brush or roller.
Coverage:
Varies from 5m2/litre for highly porous surfaces to 20m2 for smooth low porosity surfaces.
