Ironstone Finishing Plaster
Out of StockIronstone Finishing Plaster is made using 100% Heidelberg Materials Socli high
performance Natural Hydraulic Lime, fine kiln dried sand and conservation-appropriate additives. Creating a high-performance plaster that withstands high-traffic areas. Ironstone Finishing Plaster is a dry ready mixed fine plaster for use over Ironstone Basecoat or as the second pass of a two-coat application onto suitable render carrier boards with mesh in the basecoat.
Ironstone Finishing plaster provides a lightly textured finish when floated with a plastic or wooden float or sponge, and a smooth finish with minimal texture when a trowel finish is applied.
Enhanced plasticity supports a decreased likelihood of slump and improved adhesion. A longer open time makes this plaster straightforward to apply. Well-suited for those looking for a natural and traditional aesthetic fine textured finish.
Benefits:
- Breathable, durable, sustainable and natural
- Features the feel of a modern render / plaster
- Enhanced workability
- Extended working and finishing time
- Promotes even curing for an improved bond
- Salt resistant
Ironstone Finishing Plaster is ideal for older buildings where a pure lime plaster is required.
A 25kg bag yields approximately 15litres of lime plaster and covers 5m2 at 3mm.
Do not use in temperatures below 5C or above 30C. Whilst curing protect from adverse environmental conditions including frost, direct sunlight and drying winds.
Surface Preparation:
Dense impervious backgrounds are unlikely to be very absorbent and require little to no dampening, whereas more absorbent backgrounds require adequate dampening to prevent rapid drying.
Application:
Mix with clean water 4.6 – 5.4 litres of water to each 25 kg of Finishing Render. Mix for a minimum of 5 minutes, but for no longer than 10 minutes. Stand for 10-20 minutes before use. Do not add anything other than clean water. When applying to previous undercoat of Ironstone Basecoat which has hardened but is still green dampen surface with mist spray before application.
When applying over render carrying boards apply Ironstone basecoat. The basecoat should be applied as a ‘two pass one coat’ system, push 4mm alkaline resistant mesh into the first pass with a trowel and then immediately apply a second pass. Total thickness ideally 5-7mm which should be scratched to ¼ of the depth. Damp cure and protect from direct sunlight for one week before applying the Ironstone Finishing Plaster.
Ironstone Finishing Plaster should be applied to a straight, flat, dampened surface up to a maximum of 4mm.
Further Coats:
Can be finished with a mineral paint such as Beeck Maxil Pro
