Ironstone Superfine Finishing Plaster is made using 100% Heidelberg Materials Socli high performance Natural Hydraulic Lime, fine kiln dried sand and conservation-appropriate additives. Creating a high-performance plaster that withstands high-traffic areas.
Ironstone Superfine Finish Plaster is a dry ready mixed plaster designed for internal finishing. Providing a nearly pure white finish when trowelled or an off-white finish when sponged. Ideal for use over Ironstone Basecoat plaster or Cornerstone Insulating plaster.
Working aids allow for a longer open time, making this breathable plaster undemanding to apply, allowing a level and smooth finish to be very achievable.
Well-suited for a smooth and satisfying internal finish and for projects looking to achieve a traditional aesthetic lime putty plaster finish but without the slower setting time. Enhanced plasticity supports a decreased likelihood of slump and improved adhesion.
Benefits:
- Breathable, durable, sustainable and natural
- Features the feel of a modern render / plaster
- A faster set than a traditional lime putty plaster
- Enhanced workability
- Extended working and finishing time
Ironstone Superfine Finishing plaster is ideal for older buildings where a pure lime plaster is required.
A 20kg bag yields approximately 15litres of lime plaster and covers 5.6m2 at 2.5mm.
Do not use in temperatures below 5C or above 30C. Whilst curing protect from adverse environmental conditions, direct sunlight, artificial heating or dehumidifier.
Surface Preparation:
Dense impervious backgrounds are unlikely to be very absorbent and require little to no dampening, whereas more absorbent backgrounds require adequate dampening to prevent rapid drying.
Application:
Mix with 7-9 litres of clean water to each 20 kg of Superfine Finishing Plaster. Mix until you’ve achieved the desired consistency then mix for a further 20 seconds. Do not mix for more than 5 minutes. Do not add anything other than clean water.
Please read the datasheet for further advice on mixing, quenching and application. Do not add anything other than clean water.
For previous undercoat of Ironstone Basecoat which has hardened but is still green dampen surface with mist spray before application with a target depth of 2mm, it should not be applied thicker than 3mm. Finish by sponging or trowelling.
For render carrying boards apply fibred Ironstone Basecoat plaster first. The basecoat should be applied in a ‘two pass one coat’ system, pushing 4mm mesh into the first pass with a trowel then immediately apply a second pass. Total thickness ideally 5-7mm which should be scratched to ¼ of the depth. Damp cure and protect from direct sunlight for one week before applying the Ironstone Superfine Finishing Plaster with a target depth of 2mm, it should not be applied thicker than 3mm. Finish by sponging or trowelling.
For insulating plaster which has hardened but is still green dampen surface with mist spray before application with a target thickness of 2mm, it should not be applied thicker than 3mm. Finish by sponging or trowelling.
For highly absorbent, low pore, smooth or organically modified substrates use Ironstone Mineral Primer first. The Ironstone Mineral Primer is especially suitable when skimming old sound lime plaster.
Further Coats:
Can be finished with a mineral paint such as Beeck Maxil
