AgNO3 Titration
Samples are titrated for chloride content using a classical silver nitrate titration. A portion of each sample (ca. 200 mg) was ground in an agate morter and pestle and weighed accurately before adding deionised water (250 mL). The samples were stirred for ca. 2 mins to dissolve any chloride present before titrating to an electrochemically determined end point (combined silver ring electrode) using 0.001 mol.dm-3 silver nitrate. Titrations were controlled using a Metrohm 905 Titrando.
Each sample is analysed in triplicate, and results are expressed as w/w NaCl.
